A few reasons why I haven't used an alarm clock for the past couple months:

1. The mosque. 5:30am & 7-something.
2. Our neighbor's rooster. He crows at all times: 10pm, midnight, 2am, 6am - its all the same to him
3. The train. Between 5 & 7am daily. Very loud whistle considering how far away those tracks are.
4. Our stupid dogs. They chant along with the mosque. (Yes, our dogs are Muslim). They think the train is some big mother dog calling them & howl at it to let it know where they are. They bark at the sunrise. They bark at anything that moves. Sometimes they just bark for fun. One day I came outside at 6am to see one of them sitting calmly on the next flat's stoop, just barking into the air.
